• Timmy Patterson Spending most of his early years at the old Hobie Surfboards factory, Timmy Patterson has evolved into not only a legendary shaper, but an all around craftsman. With influences like his father and uncle, both working for Hobie, as well as Terry Martin, Timmy learned the surfboard trade at a young age. He had his hand in everything, shaping, laminating, hot coating, sanding, airbrushing, you name it he learned it, mastered it and still does it too this day. Timmy even foiled his own fins, a trade he picked up while laminating boards (or at least trying to) for Billy Hamilton on Kaui. He wanted a change; real wave’s, nice scenery, I mean come on its Kaui! He had a couple friends living there and a job opportunity, it just seemed like the right thing to do. He worked for Billy for about a year back in 1982. He then returned home and back to Hobie’s were he continued crafting boards until 1986 when he and a few friends decided to launch there own brand of boards. Along with local Dana Point surfboard builders’ Damien Brawner and Darrell Jones, Timmy shaped Synthetic brand surfboards until 1990 when he began crafting boards under his own name.
