San Diego native Bob Mitsven started surfing in 1967 and began building boards in 1972. That same year Bob had what he considers to be his defining moment as a shaper, "In 1972 I rode my first 6' 6" down-railed board and it was just so responsive, and you could push the board so much harder that it just opened the doors to what was possible." Bob has spent the last 25 years honing his skills and steadily crafting some of the finest surfboards in the area. After shaping with such legendary craftsmen as Dale Velzy and Dick Brewer, Bob now enjoys a loyal, almost cult following in San Diego and abroad, and is known as one of the areas premier builders of the fish, a surfboard with direct blood lines to his home town.
